Suzuki Group Lesson

Once a month, Claire has a group lesson with her teacher, Ms. Ksenia.
They are memorizing the composers and their dates for all the songs in Suzuki Book 1.
They are also learning to recognize each song when Ms. Ksenia plays only a few notes of a given song.
Listening and learning by ear are an important part of the Suzuki Method.

The focus of the group lesson is more on composition and theory than during her weekly individual lesson.  It also provides a place to play in front of others in preparation for recitals.  It is made creative and fun with games and activities!

Today they spent time practicing naming notes on the treble and bass clefs

They reviewed terms

And practiced drawing their own grand clef with measures, notes, and dynamics

Then Ms. ksenia said, "Now we will make a concert."  I love her Russian accent.

Claire played her song. . .now she is thinking of a name for it.

The next concert is in April and Claire is working on two pieces.  It is a blessing to see her progress from week to week and month to month.
