Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Claire is resuming her piano lessons here in Houston.

We couldn't get started fast enough. . . she loves playing the piano!
She sits and tinkers all the time...brings a smile to my face.

Charlotte, not so much, so Claire is going forth solo!

She is enrolled at the Suzuki Academy of Houston.

This is her beautiful teacher Miss Ksenia.
She is from Russia and quite an accomplished musician.

She teaches a hybrid of the Suzuki method and traditional pedogogy
from the Russian Conservatory.

Claire will have a half hour lesson each week
and an hour group lesson once a month.

The Suzuki method is amazing.
Claire, in fact, took Suzuki for violin when she was very young.

Listening to a CD (playing by tonation) and repetition of the exercises and pieces helps even young students master music in much the same way a child learns a language.

My role will be very important.
I had required reading of a book called Nutured By Love

During lessons, I am learning alongside Claire, taking notes and preparing
to be her teacher at home all week in between her lessons.

Class begins and ends with a bow

More than a music lesson,
Claire and I are really looking forward to sharing this experience together
and growing together.

First piece . . .
Twinkle, Twinkle in four variations
