Yorkshire

Our day started with a tour in Haworth of the Bronte Parsonage, home to the Bronte sisters Charlotte, Emily and Anne. The home is much the way it was when the Brontes lived there and the three sisters penned their most famous novels including Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tennant of Wildfell Hall. Our driver arranged for us to have a traditional English dinner of roast beef, yorkshire puddings, cabbage, potatoes and carrots. It was scrumptious.

We also visited Ripon and it's ancient cathedral. Particular carvings in the choir loft inspired Lewis Caroll to write Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It was magnificent and beautiful. Following this tour, we walked the quaint streets and had cream tea in the middle of the afternoon. So lovely. Simply one of my favorite things of all....tea time!

Lastly, we drove to Fountain's Abbey, a 12th century Cistercian Abbey - the most complete one in all of England after the disestablishment of the abbey by King Henry VIII.

It was another spectacular day of touring. The kids are great to be with and I know Meredith is making so many wonderful memories with her sweet friends. Moreover, so much of her literary study thus far has come to life with each destination. Our journey is nearing its end. We have a full day of touring tomorrow. Cheerio!
