England Dinner

Meredith attended an England pre-trip dinner at Mr. Nadonly's home this weekend where each student presented on one aspect of our upcoming trip. In Mr. Nadonly's observation, American tourists visit famous sites in order to learn about them. European tourists are well educated about the places they visit and attend an exhibit to learn MORE. So, having researched and shared about all our destinations, we are ready to ask intelligent questions and have increased appreciation for what we will be seeing!

The dinner itself was english...everyone brought an authentic dish to share. There were lamb chops, duck, cottage pie, toad in the hole, mushy peas and a stew. Meredith brought a bakewell tart, which has a fascinating history all its own. It was delicious! The students lingered around the table in Mr. Nadonly's library for three hours, drinking tea, discussing, sharing, presenting.
Wish I had pictures capturing the unfolding of the evening, but I only caught the last hour and didn't have my camera. I do have the progression of the tart making, however. It baked, releasing the aroma of fresh raspberries and almonds throughout the house! The recipe is HERE.
